MANKATO, MN -- Winona State University saw its season come to a heartbreaking end with a 75-69 overtime loss to Fort Collins College, CO in semifinal play of the NCAA Division II Central Region Tournament at the Bresnan Arena on the campus of Minnesota State University Mankato.
It was a back-and-forth game that featured seven ties and nine lead changes.
The biggest lead in the game for the Warriors came at eight points, 57-49, with 7:12 to play in regulation but the Skywalkers would hold WSU to just two points in the final 3:37 to send the game into an extra five minutes of play.
In the overtime WSU did lead, 66-65, but managed only three field goals in nine attempts in the extra period and only one in the Warriors' final five shots.
Junior, Ana Wurtz had a game-high 29 points, while, senior, Jamie Majerowicz tallied 17 and, senior, Jenny Steffen contributed ten points.
The Warriors held the edge on the boards 34-31 with Majerowicz coming up with a team-high rebounds.
