SAUK RAPIDS, Minn. – Junior Seth Reel won his first collegiate race, taking the top spot at the Bob Waxlax Invitational by 13 seconds Friday in Sauk Rapids.
Reel's winning time of 25:28.9 topped Minnesota Duluth's Cody Sedbrook's mark of 25:41.8.
UMD took spots second through seventh before the Warriors' Reed Parent crossed the line with an eighth-place finish and a time of 26:08.5. Sophomore Charles Schauer added a 16th-place mark with a time of 26:28.4, while freshman Drew Selzler (26:31.0) and senior Shane Carlson (26:34.5) finished 18th and 19th, respectively.
The Warriors took home third place as a team, behind UMD and Minnesota State. WSU and the Mavericks each finished with 62 points, but MSU earned the tiebreaker.
Winona State next competes at the Drews-Neubauer Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 10:30 a.m. in West Salem, Wisconsin.
