ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Senior Alissa Rausch had an outstanding second day at the Viking Olympics on Saturday with the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships in her sights.

Rausch automatically qualified for the championship in the discus by throwing a 53.09-meter (174' 2") toss, recording a personal best and setting the mark as the second-best mark in WSU history.

Her teammate Caitie Zepczyk also put together a provisional qualifying mark with a 45.62-meter (149' 8") throw, finishing second in the event. Freshman Erin Bramble already made her mark in the discus as well, setting the ninth-best mark in WSU history with a 44.65-meter (146'6") throw.

After setting a great mark in the discus, Rausch would carry the momentum over into the shot put. Rausch won the event with a 14.65-meter (48' 3/4") toss, setting a provisional qualifying mark in the event.

The Warriors got a few solid performances in the heptathlon. Amanda Schaefer finished fourth overall, winning the high jump and finishing second in the long jump events. Olivia Fixsen also picked up an event win in the heptathlon, winning the 100-meter hurdles.

The next meet for the Warriors will be a split squad weekend. The track team will participate in the Ashton-May Invitational in La Crosse on Friday and the field team will travel to compete at the UNK Loper Invitational in Kearney, Neb. on Saturday.
