MANKATO, Minn. – The Winona State track and field team won a pair of events in day two of the MSU Open and Multi on the campus of Minnesota State Saturday in Mankato.
The Warriors had a strong showing in the shot put, sweeping the top three spots. Sophomore Ashley Thooft won the event with a 44' 6 ¼" (13.57m) toss. Heather Buckler finished second with a 43' 2 ½" (13.17m) throw, and Kaitlyn Long took third with a 42' 11" (13.08m) mark.
Junior Megan Seidl also topped the field in the 200-meter dash with a winning time of 25.47.
Junior Andrea Bartz earned a second place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 37' 2 ¼".
The 4x400-meter relay team of Seidl, Katie Bagley, Ali Skluzacek and Brittany Schyvinck also took second with a time of 3:58.19, which ranks it 10th in program history.
Freshman Kari Schneiss earned a third place finish in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:41.79.
The Warriors compete next in the Jack Johnson Classic Friday and Saturday at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
