Warriors Compete At Jack Johnson, Warren Bowlus Invites

WINONA, Minn.  – The Winona State track and field team completed a busy weekend as a split squad saw action at the Jack Johnson Invitational in Minneapolis, while the rest of the team competed at the Warren Bowlus Open at UW-Stout in Menomonie, Wisconsin.

Junior Megan Seidl got the weekend off to a fast start, breaking her own school record in the 200-meter dash to lead the Winona State track and field team at the Jack Johnson Classic in Minneapolis.

Seidl took fourth in the finals – behind three Division I runners – of the star field of 37 athletes. Her time of 25.25 bested her previous personal record of 25.33 from last season, which was tied with Sarah Finley for the top mark in the event in the program history.

The Warriors took the top two spots in the 60-meter hurdles, as Olivia Fixen won the event with a time of 9.49 and Brittany Dulak came in second with a 9.58.

The Warriors' 4x400-meter relay team of Karina Elford, Kari Schneiss, Megan Grochowski and Ali Skluzacek took first with a time of 4:07.08.

Andrea Bartz won the triple jump with a leap of 36' 9".

Sophomore Raissa Hansen finished second in the 3000-meter run with the fifth-best mark in WSU history, finishing in a time of 10:29.11.

Freshman Tamika Tucker took third in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.96 seconds.

Amanda Schaefer added a second-place finish in the high jump with a jump of 5' 4 ½", while Hailey Deschaine (17' 2 ¾") and Haley Rienke (17' ½") finished second and third in the long jump.

Freshman Allison Johnson and junior Madeline Tompach finished second and third in the 800-meter run with times of 2:23.12 and 2:34.44, respectively.

Kaitlyn Long won the weight throw with a toss of 71' 9 ½".  She also finished third in the shot put with a toss of 43' 5".

Winona State is back in action next Friday when it competes at UW-Oshkosh.
