MANKATO, Minn. – The Winona State track and field team won two more individual titles on day two of the NSIC Indoor Championships to finish fourth as a team Saturday in Mankato.
Kaitlyn Long went 2-for-2 at the championships, winning the shot put Saturday after running away with the weight throw crown on Friday. Long threw the shot put 47' ¼" to earn the win, while teammate and fellow sophomore Ashley Thooft added an impressive second place finish with a throw of 46' 6 ¾". Heather Buckler added a sixth-place finish in the event with a throw of 43' 1".
Megan Seidl also earned a victory in the 400-meter dash, finishing with a time of 55.86, setting a personal record and finishing with the second-best time in school history. Brittany Schyvinck finished fifth in the event at 58.59 to add the eighth-best mark in school history. Seidl also finished fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.18.
Katie Bagley finished third (1:35.71) and Taylor Vogel finished eighth (1:40.09) in the 600-meter run, Ali Johnson (2:19.62) finished sixth in the 800-meters, Hope Willinbrink (3:05.93) finished seventh in the 1000-meters and Raissa Hansen finished sixth in the 3000-meters.
WSU's 4x400-meter relay squad finished fourth and its distance medley relay team finished fifth.
Andrea Bartz added a sixth-place showing in the triple jump.
Next up for the Warriors is the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 11-12 in Pittsburg, Kan.
