LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Winona State track and field team won five events en route to the team title Friday at the Esten Challenge at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Hailey Deschaine, Tamika Tucker, Brittany Schyvinck and Megan Seidl set the best time in WSU history in the event, winning with a time of 46.90. Seidl also took first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.71.
Raissa Hansen set a personal record in the 3000-meter steeplechase, winning the event with a time of 10:55.55 to improve upon her second place mark in the record book. McKenzie Fortier finished third in the event in 11:43.26 to move into fifth in WSU's steeplechase record book.
The Warriors finished one-two in the shot put, with Ashley Thooft throwing 44' 11.5" to win and Heather Buckler finishing second with 44' 8", which places her as the seventh-farthest thrower in WSU history.
Thooft also won the discus with a throw of 153' 8", which improves upon her eighth-best throw in team history. Abbey Ristow took third in the event with a throw of 143' 2".
Nicole Nelson took second in the hammer throw with a heave of 182' 4" with Ristow finishing third at 174' 11".
Hailey Deschaine took second in the long jump with a leap of 17' 11.75", while Andrea Bartz finished second in the triple jump at 37' 8".
Tamika Tucker added a third place finish in the 100-meter dash, as did Olivia Fixsen in the 100-meter hurdles and Taylor Vogel in the 400-meter hurdles.
Winona State competes next at the Drake Relays and the Kip Janvrin Open on Thursday-Saturday.
