LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) has announced its 2017 Division II All-Region awards and Winona State University had two players named to the Central Region Team. Seniors McKenna Larsen and Danielle Rampart each received honorable mention recognition.
Larsen, Winona's first-ever NCAA All-American in 2016, earns AVCA All-Region honorable mention for the second straight year. An AVCA Division II Player of the Week earlier this season, Larsen was a three-time NSIC All-Conference selection in her career, including First Team honors in each of the last two years.
The Oconto Falls, Wisconsin native concludes her Warrior career ranked second all-time in assists (4,399) and seventh in service aces (136). Larsen hit .347 as a sophomore in 2015 which ranks second in WSU single-season history.
Rampart, the 2014 AVCA Central Region Freshman of the Year, caps her career with All-Region honors for the first time. The Trevor, Wisconsin native was a four-time NSIC All-Conference recipient, including First Team accolades three times.
Rampart closes her career ranked second all-time in program history in kills (1,347) and 11th in digs (1,300). She is just the fourth player in Warrior history to record at least 1,300 kills and digs.
Larsen and Rampart, both four-year starters at Winona State, compiled a career 87-32 record. The duo helped lead the Warriors to their first-ever NCAA Central Region Volleyball Tournament in 2016.
WSU posted a 21-8 (15-5 NSIC) record in 2017, marking its third straight 20-win season – a feat that has only been accomplished over one other span in program history (1986-88).
