Larsen and Rampart named AVCA All-American Honorable Mentions

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) has announced its 2017 NCAA Division II All-America Teams and Winona State University's McKenna Larsen and Danielle Rampart each garnered Honorable Mention Recognition.

The First, Second and Third Teams are each comprised of 14 athletes while 56 total players earned Honorable Mention status. The 2017 AVCA All-America Teams are made up players from eight regions around the country.

Larsen and Rampart were both named Central Region Honorable Mentions earlier this month.

Larsen, who became Winona State's first-ever NCAA AVCA All-American last season, concludes her career as the Warriors' first two-time All-American.

The Oconto Falls, Wisconsin native finishes her career ranked second all-time in program history in assists (4,399) and seventh in service aces (136). Larsen hit .347 as a sophomore in 2015 which ranks second in WSU single-season history.

Larsen was named the AVCA Division II Player of the Week earlier in the 2017 campaign. She was a three-time NSIC All-Conference selection in her career, including First Team honors in each of the last two seasons.

Rampart, the 2014 AVCA Central Region Freshman of the Year, caps her career with All-American honors for the first time. The Trevor, Wisconsin native was a four-time NSIC All-Conference recipient, including First Team accolades three times.

She concludes her Warrior career ranked second all-time in program history in kills (1,347) and 11th in digs (1,300). Rampart is one of just four players in WSU history to reach the 1,300 plateau in both kills and digs.

Larsen and Rampart, both four-year starts at Winona State, compiled a career 87-32 record. The duo helped lead the Warriors to their first-ever NCAA Central Region Volleyball Tournament in 2016.

Both players were also three-time NSIC All-Academic recipients in their career.

Winona State University posted a 21-8 (15-5 NSIC) record in 2017, marking its third straight 20-win season – a feat that has only been accomplished over one other span in program history (1986-88).
