MADISON, Wis. – Winona State had five first place finishes and earned an overall second place finish at the Shell Shocker in Madison in Friday. The team scored 135 points and was second only to Wisconsin, beating out Division I teams Marquette and Northern Iowa.
Kaitlyn Long took first once again in the weight throw; her mark on Friday was 22.10 meters/72'6.25'' feet. It puts Long into first place in the nation following her throw. Long improved in the shot put as well on Friday and now ranks 14
th in the country.
Hailey Deschaine won the long jump with a mark of 5.76 meters, she now ranks 21
st in the country after breaking a school record
Alexandra Hutchison won the 200-meters in a time of 25.85 seconds.
The Warriors went one, two and three in the 400-meters, led by
Brittany Schyvinck who won the race in a time of 58.28 seconds.
Ali Skluzacek was second and
Johnna Patterson was third.
Anna Rogahn took home first in the 800-meters with a time of 2:20.28. Her teammate
Amanda Kaiser finished third in a time of 2:20.95.
Heather Buckler is now ranked eighth nationally in the shot put after her toss of 49'5'' feet / 15.06 meters on Friday.
Tamika Tucker ran second in the 60-meters with a time 7.74 seconds. It was a season best for Tucker.
Nikki Staffen was second in the mile run in a time of 5:13.86.
