Warriors Set Top-Ten Marks in Season Opener

WINONA, Minn. – Winona State won 15 events of Saturday at the Dingels-Brueggen Open at Saint Mary's. Heather Buckler won the shot put with the fourth best throw in program history. Kathleen Taylor in her first outdoor meet, tied with Buckler for the third best in WSU history in the shot put.
 
Tamika Tucker won the 100 meters in a time of 12.68 seconds, .08 ahead of teammate Taylor Juresh.
 
Alexandra Hutchison edged out her teammate Emily Hovseth, winning the 200 meters in a time of 25.67 seconds.
 
Winona State took the top six spots in the 400 meters, led by Megan Seidl, who won the event in a time of 55.68 seconds. Brittany Schyvinck took second and Johnna Patterson was third.
 
Anna Rogahn took home first in the 1,500 meters, crossing the line in a time of 5:04.17. Bailey Hlavachek was third in the event.
 
The Warriors went one, two, three in the 3,000 meters. Olivia Anger ran a 10:37.42 to win the event. Hannah Lewis was second and Emily Tyrell was third. Anger's time was third fastest in WSU history while Lewis' time was fifth best.
 
Ashley Sprain won the 100 meter hurdles, clocking in just under 16 seconds, at 15.99. Amanda Letsinger was second.
 
In the second hurdle event, the 400 meter hurdles, Kari Schneiss won with a time of 1:04.59. Karina Elford was third with a time of 1:08.53.
 
In the 3,000 meter steeplechase, McKenzie Fortier won in a time of 11:57.27, beating out McKenzie Carper.
 
Hailey Deschaine, Tucker, Schyvinck and Seidl teamed up to win the 4x100 meter relay in a time of 47.28 seconds.
 
Bailey Cronin, Elford, Allison Johnson and Desirae Moss won the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:09.97.
 
Deschaine won the long jump with a mark of 5.83 meters/19-1.50 feet. Tucker was second with a jump of 5.46 meters/17-11.0 feet. Tucker's jump was good enough for tenth all-time.
 
In the shot put Heather Buckler won with a toss of 14.46 meters/47-5.25 feet. Katie Taylor was second and Kaitlyn Long was third.
 
Winona State claimed the top five spots in the discus. Kaylee Jensen was first with a throw of 44.11 meters/144-09 feet. Erin Bramble was second, followed by Heather Buckler, rounding out the top three.
 
Nicole Nelson threw 54.67 meters/179-04 feet to win the hammer throw. WSU took second, third and fourth. Erin Perkins was second and Kaitlyn Long was third.
 
Bramble won the javelin, marking at 34.08 meters/111-10 feet. Lindsay Rutz was third for Winona State.
 
Aimee Holland was second in the 800 meters, beating out teammate Maria Sanbourin, who was third.
