Roelofs Nominated for NCAA Woman of the Year

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Tara Roelofs is one of a record number, 543 student-athletes that is nominated for the 2017 NCAA Woman of the Year Award. Roelofs played basketball for the Warriors and racked up several accolades during her time at Winona State. She was an all-conference performer as well as being named the NSIC Elite 18 award winner for women's basketball. Roelofs also volunteered in the community and was very involved on campus.
 
In her career, Roelofs scored over 1,300 points; averaging double-digit points per game. In the classroom, Roelofs was just as impressive, earning all-academic honors on multiple occasions. She held a 4.0 GPA while majoring in exercise/rehab science movement science and psychology.
 
A total of 117 NCAA Division II student-athletes were nominated for the award that honors graduating female college athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and distinguished themselves in academics, athletics, service and leadership.
 
From the NCAA:
Next, conferences will select up to two conference nominees each from the pool of school nominees. The Woman of the Year selection committee, made up of representatives from the NCAA membership, will then choose the top 30 honorees — 10 from each division.
 
From the top 30, the selection committee determines the top three honorees from each division and announces the nine finalists in September. The NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics then chooses the 2017 NCAA Woman of the Year from those nine.
 
The top 30 honorees will be recognized and the 2017 NCAA Woman of the Year will be announced at the annual award ceremony Oct. 22 in Indianapolis.
