1st Annual Warrior Walk/Run for Women’s Scholarships
April 11th, 2010
The mission of the WSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is to provide programs that are recognized nationally for academic and athletic excellence while representing the university and the Winona Area communities with dignity and honor. To achieve this, the WARRIOR Walk/Run for Women's Scholarships was conceived to:
o Be the primary fundraiser for WSU female student-athlete scholarships
o To provide these women with an opportunity to meet, mix and mingle with their community supporters
An important part of the Warrior Walk/Run's success is the organization of "teams" by Team Captains volunteers and the support of individual Walkers/Runners.
Help raise funds for the
WSU Women's Athletic Programs by participating! Lead a group as a
Team Captain, join a team as a
Walker/Runner or join
"Team Warrior"and come as you are. The goal is for
each participant to raise $40 or more.
Each participant who reaches or exceeds the $40 mark will get a Gift Bag valued at over $40 (more details below). Prize Drawings & Prizes will be presented after the Walk/Run along with lunch from Hy-Vee.
Here are some of the ways your support helps Warrior Student-Athletes:
"Participating in WSU athletics has provided me with memories, friends, and experiences that will be a part of me for the rest of my life. Scholarships to me, mean that I have the opportunity to play the game that I love and represent WSU athletics to the best of my ability, while also receiving the education that will guide me to a successful future."

"As a Division II student-athlete I am very appreciative of the scholarship that was provided to me. Without that money I would not be attending a 4 year institution. This opportunity has given me the ability to get a great education, while continuing to compete in the sport I love. I have had many positive experiences so far and look forward to those to come."

"My experience at Winona State University has been excellent, due largely in part to athletics. The scholarships I have received have given me the opportunity to continue playing the game I love while also furthering my education. Most importantly, they have enhanced my college experience by leaving me with memories that will stay with me forever."

"A scholarship is much more than just money. It's an opportunity for young adults to pursue dreams. To me, a scholarship meant the opportunity to continue playing the game I love while receiving an excellent education. This scholarship has allowed me to follow my dreams, which couldn't have been done without it. It allowed me to meet so many amazing people and encounter challenges that will prepare me for the real world."

"The scholarships I was presented by WSU helped make my decision to come to this great institution. 3 years later I could not be more proud to call this great place and 'community of learners' my home. Scholarships have allowed me to perform my best on the course and in the classroom without worrying about my financial situation. I am extremely grateful for all the opportunities WSU has provided for me."
