WINONA, Minn. – Winona State Athletics mourns the loss of former gymnastics student-athlete Brooke Baures, who passed away Dec. 1 in Fountain City, Wis. A candlelight vigil will be held in Brooke's honor Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 8 p.m. at the Gazebo in the center of the Winona State campus. Students, friends and those wishing to honor Brooke are welcome to attend and pay their respects.

Brooke, 21, was from Chetek, Wis., and was a senior majoring in social work. Brooke was a member of the WSU Gymnastics team from 2011 to 2014.

"She was a leader on the team and a talented gymnast," said Winona State athletic director Eric Schoh. "This is a tremendous loss for our community, and we ask that you keep Brooke and her family, friends, coaches and teammates in your thoughts."
